The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has described the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration as unmatched in Nigeria’s recent history, calling on members of the City Boy Movement to intensify efforts to publicise the government’s performance at the grassroots.

Akume made the remarks while receiving members of the City Boy Movement, led by its Director-General, Oluwatosin Shoga, at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Abuja.

According to the SGF, the Tinubu administration inherited significant economic challenges but has recorded notable progress through its Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said several road projects abandoned for years, including sections of the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, had been completed, while more infrastructure projects, including roads, universities, schools, power projects and dams across the six geopolitical zones, were awaiting commissioning.

Akume also highlighted the country’s foreign reserves as one of the administration’s major achievements, saying they had risen from near depletion to almost $50 billion.

“This government has, within a very short period, regenerated our reserves from virtually zero to close to 50 billion dollars. That is a record that has not been witnessed in many decades. It is a product of bold reforms, careful planning, commitment and purposeful leadership,” he said.

The SGF urged members of the City Boy Movement to take the administration’s achievements directly to communities across the country.

“You have a responsibility to help tell Nigerians what this government is doing. Many people only need access to factual information. Take the message to the grassroots so that citizens can appreciate the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, described Akume as one of President Tinubu’s most loyal supporters and commended his contributions to the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Oluwatosin Shoga, sought greater collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to strengthen public awareness of the Tinubu administration’s policies and achievements.

Shoga conveyed the goodwill of the movement’s patron, Seyi Tinubu, and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda through youth mobilisation and civic engagement.

He said the City Boy Movement had grown into one of the country’s largest youth-driven political and civic mobilisation platforms, with a focus on informing, engaging and empowering young Nigerians while promoting understanding of government reforms.

“Our mission is clear—we are informing, engaging and empowering Nigerian youths. We are also bridging the gap between the government and the people by ensuring that citizens understand the reasons behind the bold reforms being implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Shoga added that the movement had already conducted grassroots engagements in several states, including Benue, and was expanding its nationwide mobilisation campaign to consolidate support for the administration and improve public understanding of government policies.

“The real engagement has begun. We believe that effective communication and sustained grassroots mobilisation are essential to ensuring that Nigerians appreciate the achievements of this administration and the vision behind its reforms,” he said.
