The Delta State Government has commenced the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit (Invest Delta 2026), bringing together government officials, investors, business leaders, development partners and policy experts to explore investment opportunities aimed at accelerating economic growth and industrialisation in the state. The three-day summit is taking place from August 3 to 5 at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba.

Held under the theme “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potentials,” the summit is designed to showcase Delta State’s competitive advantages across key sectors, including oil and gas, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, tourism and the blue economy. Organisers say the event is intended to deepen investor confidence, attract both domestic and foreign direct investment, and build strategic partnerships for sustainable economic development.

The state government noted that Delta ranks among Nigeria’s largest state economies, with a 2024 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of ₦16.97 trillion, recording significant growth in recent years. Officials say the summit provides a platform to present bankable investment opportunities, policy reforms and incentives aimed at positioning the state as a preferred investment destination.

The event features high-level discussions, investment showcases, business-to-business engagements and policy dialogues involving senior government officials, local and international investors, financial institutions and development agencies. It is expected to generate new partnerships capable of driving industrial expansion, job creation and inclusive economic growth across Delta State.

Among the notable participants present at the summit are Vice President Kashim Shettima, World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, business executives and investors from countries including Brazil and China, reflecting growing international interest in Delta State’s investment prospects.
