Peter Obi has outlined his vision for a “productive and prosperous Nigeria,” pledging sweeping reforms in education, healthcare and industrial development as part of his agenda ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a post shared on X on Wednesday, Obi recalled that when he first declared his presidential ambition, he promised to place Nigeria on the path of unity and national transformation. He said that, as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), he would, in the coming weeks and months, unveil a comprehensive roadmap aimed at tackling government inefficiency, improving the quality of life of Nigerians and promoting national unity, peace and sustainable prosperity.

According to him, the proposed agenda is anchored on the principles of unity, inclusion, social justice, equity and the protection of every citizen’s right to pursue lawful aspirations.

Obi identified education and healthcare as the foundation of his development plan, describing investment in human capital as essential for economic growth and effective public service delivery.

He said his administration would immediately establish a task force to significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children across the country.

The former Anambra State governor also pledged to prioritise Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), saying it would support Nigeria’s industrialisation drive through agriculture, value addition and the establishment of industrial parks across the country’s geopolitical zones.

He proposed strengthening TVET institutions through increased funding and better equipment, backed by partnerships involving government, the private sector and faith-based organisations. Obi added that the initiative would promote apprenticeship opportunities modelled after Germany’s dual education system.

Obi argued that Nigeria must address the paradox of high unemployment alongside a shortage of skilled labour, which he said has compelled many Nigerian entrepreneurs to establish businesses abroad.

He further pledged to promote character and civic education to strengthen trust, leadership and shared national values, describing them as critical ingredients for enterprise and national development.

Obi concluded the statement by reaffirming his campaign slogan, declaring that “A New N

igeria is Possible.”
