Sports University begins 2026/2027 admission exercise
The Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje Ugboko, Delta State, has announced the commencement of admissions into its academic programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The institution disclosed that admissions are open across sports training, degree, diploma and preparatory programmes designed to combine academic excellence with athletic development.
According to the university, all admitted students are expected to participate in compulsory physical sports and high-performance training programmes, while also pursuing academic courses in their chosen fields.
The university listed football, swimming, basketball, handball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, track and field events, volleyball, golf, hockey, gymnastics, taekwondo, squash, shooting, archery and darts among the compulsory sports programmes available for students.
It added that degree programmes are available under the Faculty of Sports Science, including Sports Science and Technology, Sports Administration and Management, and Physical and Health Sciences.
The institution also announced admissions into conventional degree programmes under several faculties, including Allied Health Sciences, Mass Communication, Management and Social Sciences, Sciences, and Architecture.
Courses available include Nursing, Public Health, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Science, Accounting, Business Administration, Political Science, International Relations, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Architecture, among others.
The university further stated that direct entry admissions are open for qualified candidates with A-Level qualifications, OND or equivalent certificates.
It also announced certificate and diploma programmes targeted at coaches, sports administrators and sports management executives in areas such as Sports Marketing, Sports Governance, Athletes Management, Digital Sports Media, Performance Psychology and Vocational Training.
In addition, the institution said it offers preparatory studies for candidates with sporting talents who may not yet meet admission requirements for degree programmes.
According to the university, the preparatory studies consist of Basic Studies for candidates without secondary school certificates and Foundation Studies for candidates with insufficient credits or low UTME scores.
The university stated that admission into degree programmes requires five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, alongside the national JAMB UTME cut-off mark. Candidates seeking admission into sports programmes are also required to possess verifiable sporting talent.
The institution highlighted some of its facilities to include secure on-site accommodation, 24-hour power supply, WiFi connectivity, CCTV surveillance systems and modern sports facilities.
