Ned Nwoko empowers constituents in 98 wards
Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, has empowered no fewer than 500 women and youths from communities across the district’s nine local government areas through a comprehensive entrepreneurship and business support programme.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the 98 wards in Delta North, received grants, Point of Sale (POS) machines, business development training and certificates aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and economic self-reliance.
The two-day capacity-building and empowerment programme brought together participants from across the senatorial district and focused on equipping them with practical business skills, financial management knowledge and sustainable income-generating opportunities.
Speaking at the event, Senator Nwoko, represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Engr. Emmanuel Eboh, said the initiative was designed to provide sustainable economic empowerment rather than temporary financial assistance.
He noted that participants underwent practical entrepreneurial training to prepare them for successful business ownership, wealth creation and effective financial management.
According to him, the certificates presented at the end of the programme would also improve the employability of beneficiaries, particularly in the production and manufacturing sectors.
“The objective of this programme is to strengthen the economic capacity of our women and youths through sustainable empowerment. Beyond the financial support, beneficiaries have acquired valuable knowledge on business development, opportunities, challenges and strategies required for success.
“The grants and POS machines will enable them to immediately establish or expand their businesses. In essence, we are teaching people how to create wealth for themselves rather than merely providing short-term assistance,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to Senator Nwoko, Dr. Michael Nwoko, described the initiative as a demonstration of the lawmaker’s commitment to human capital development, job creation and people-centred representation.
He disclosed that more than 1,220 women, youths, farmers and market traders had benefited from similar empowerment programmes facilitated by the senator over the past three years.
Dr. Nwoko added that Senator Nwoko had also executed several constituency projects and educational support initiatives across Delta North, aside from his legislative duties.
According to him, the senator’s developmental interventions and responsive representation have continued to attract commendation from constituents across the district.
“The Distinguished Senator has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the welfare and development of the people. Across Delta North, there is growing appreciation for his achievements and increasing calls for him to consolidate on these gains,” he said.
The Director of Administration, Hon. Somadina Anwasia, described the programme as a strategic intervention aimed at boosting household incomes, reducing economic hardship and promoting social stability across communities in the district.
Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Senator Nwoko for providing entrepreneurial training and business support packages capable of improving their livelihoods.
Among those who spoke were Chibuogwu Aniyor from Aniocha North, Ofuani Cletus Nkadilim from Aniocha South, Mordi Kingsley from Oshimili North, Stanley Okonta Dibie from Ika South, Nkwor-Kalo Ezekiel from Ika North East, Nwadialor Salvation from Ndokwa East, Uwadia Joshua Chukwudi from Ndokwa West and Nzete Gilbert from Ukwuani, who commended the senator for sustaining programmes that directly impact residents.
Highlights of the event included lectures on entrepreneurship and business management, distribution of grants and POS machines, as well as the presentation of certificates to participants.
The programme underscored Senator Nwoko’s commitment to promoting economic empowerment, self-reliance and improved socio-economic well-being among residents of Delta North through sustainable entrepreneurship initiatives.
