NDC plans merger with 5 top parties
NDC Vanguard, a pro-Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) group, has claimed that the party is holding talks with several political parties aimed at forming what it described as one of the biggest political alliances in recent times ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post shared on X, the group alleged that the NDC leadership is in discussions with the All Progressives Movement (APM), the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the Action Alliance (AA) to support a single presidential candidate.
According to the group, the proposed coalition could significantly reshape the country’s political landscape if the negotiations succeed.
“Unveiled: NDC is planning one of the biggest Alliance/Coalition in recent times behind the scenes. APM, PRP, NDC, SDP, AA. These parties are in talks with NDC leadership to form and support one candidate, and you know what that means,” the post read.
The group further hinted at the possibility of a joint presidential ticket involving the 2027 NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing the prospect as “BANG.”
However, neither the NDC nor the leadership of the parties mentioned in the post had officially confirmed the existence of such negotiations as of the time of filing this report.
Political observers note that coalition talks often intensify ahead of major elections as opposition parties seek to consolidate their support base and improve their chances against ruling parties. Whether the reported discussions will culminate in a formal alliance remains uncertain.
