Lagos Country Club marks 77th anniversary, commissions project Falcon

The Lagos Country Club has celebrated its 77th anniversary with the commissioning of Project Falcon, a major development initiative described by the club’s leadership as a strategic investment in its future.

The project was commissioned at the club’s 77th Anniversary Gala Night, where the President, Seyi Adewunmi, reflected on the institution’s 77-year journey and paid tribute to generations of members who have contributed to its growth and sustainability.

In his anniversary address, Adewunmi acknowledged the founding fathers, past presidents, elders and trustees for laying and sustaining the foundation of the club since its establishment in 1949.

He said the club’s 77 years of existence reflected the commitment, dedication and collective efforts of successive generations of members who had worked to preserve its values, traditions and legacy.

The president also recognised the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Aare Kolawole Oyefeso, for his guidance, wisdom and wealth of institutional knowledge, describing his contributions as valuable to the continued development of the club.

Adewunmi described the commissioning of Project Falcon as the high point of the anniversary celebration, saying the project fulfilled a key campaign promise under the EAGLE agenda of his administration.

According to him, the project represents not only an investment in the club’s present needs but also a lasting legacy for generations of members yet to come.

While acknowledging the challenges encountered during the execution of the project, Adewunmi expressed appreciation to members and supporters whose financial contributions, prayers and encouragement helped bring the initiative to completion.

He commended the Tender and Project Monitoring Committee, chaired by former treasurer Bola Akapo, alongside the consultants, contractors and technical partners involved in the project.

Among those recognised were Studio Stoone Designs, Vicanto Project Services, Side Vision Engineering, Ashtkb Ventures Limited, Yalex Consulting Limited, Amabim Engineering Limited, Haywards Engineering Services, Estate Dynamics Limited, Preppus Technologies and Black Country Sound Systems.

The president also acknowledged members of the Management Council and immediate past officers for their contributions towards the successful delivery of Project Falcon.

Adewunmi urged younger members of the club to become more actively involved in its affairs and future development.

He reminded them that they were not merely beneficiaries of the institution but heirs to a legacy built over several decades, encouraging them to bring fresh ideas, energy and creativity to the club.

He said the continued relevance of the Lagos Country Club would depend on its ability to preserve its core values while embracing innovation and adapting to changing times.

The president also paid tribute to the wives, mothers, daughters and women members of the club for their sacrifices and contributions to the institution.

He reserved special appreciation for his wife, Ify, thanking her for her support throughout his tenure as president.

The anniversary gala was attended by several distinguished Nigerians, who joined members in celebrating the milestone.

Adewunmi thanked the guests for honouring the occasion and supporting the club’s anniversary celebration.

He stressed that Project Falcon belonged to the entire membership of the Lagos Country Club and demonstrated what could be achieved when members unite behind a common vision.

The celebration ended with Adewunmi leading members in a toast to the club’s 77th anniversary, while urging them to protect its heritage and values and embrace innovations that would keep the institution vibrant for generations to come.
