Kenneth Okonkwo reacts to appointment by Atiku

African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has appointed Kenneth Okonkw as his spokesperson ahead of the 2027 general election.

 

Okonkwo announced the appointment in a post on X, expressing gratitude to God and thanking Atiku for the confidence reposed in him.

 

According to Okonkwo, the appointment reflects Atiku’s commitment to dialogue and inclusiveness, noting that the former vice president prefers consultation and compromise over confrontation whenever disagreements arise among his associates.

 

He disclosed that discussions involving Atiku and members of the (ADC) had addressed the interests of the South-East, adding that assurances were given despite challenges posed by the Electoral Act, 2026, and prevailing political realities.

 

Okonkwo also acknowledged the contributions of his intervention and counsel, which he said promoted an inclusive political vision for Nigerians regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, age or regional background.

 

He further thanked former ADC National Chairman for his efforts in strengthening the party amid challenges since the formation of the opposition coalition.

 

The new spokesperson also commended for working to assemble a formidable campaign team in support of Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition.

 

Okonkwo expressed appreciation to his family, friends and supporters for their prayers and encouragement, saying he would rely on continued support as he assumes what he described as a challenging responsibility in pursuit of a

better Nigeria.
