Chelsea releases list of deadly squad

Chelsea Women have confirmed their 19-player squad for the inaugural World Sevens tournament in London, which gets underway on Thursday.

 

The Blues will compete alongside Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester City, London City Lionesses, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the two-day competition scheduled for May 28 and 29. The semi-finals and final will take place on Saturday, May 30.

 

The tournament will be staged at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium and is designed to deliver a fast-paced, entertainment-driven football experience featuring Women’s Super League stars. Organisers have also lined up live entertainment, including a DJ, to enhance the atmosphere.

 

For Chelsea supporters, the event will provide a final opportunity to watch the team in action before the players head into the summer break.

 

Chelsea’s squad for the tournament includes three goalkeepers — Hannah Hampton, Livia Peng and Becky Spencer.

 

Defenders named in the squad are Sandy Baltimore, Kadeisha Buchanan, Veerle Buurman, Ellie Carpenter, Niamh Charles and Chloe Sarwie.

 

In midfield, Erin Cuthbert, Wieke Kaptein, Sjoeke Nusken, Lexi Potter and Keira Walsh have been selected.

 

The attacking options include Aggie Beever-Jones, Lauren James, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Alyssa Thompson and Mayra Ramirez.

 

Fans unable to attend the tournament in person will be able to watch all matches live on Sky Sports in t

he United Kingdom.
