Adebayo calls for urgent action as Plateau killings trigger outrage

Frontline politician, Adewole Adebayo, has condemned the recent surge of deadly attacks in Plateau State, describing the killings of innocent residents as brutal and unacceptable.

During a visit to affected communities, Adebayo criticised leaders across all levels of government for what he called a failure to fulfill their core responsibility of protecting lives and property. He stressed that governance must remain people-focused, with security treated as a top priority.

Addressing the presidency, he said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a constitutional obligation to guarantee the safety of citizens. According to him, Nigeria has the necessary resources and intelligence to tackle insecurity—if backed by genuine political will.

“These attackers are cowards,” Adebayo said, arguing that criminal groups carrying out hit-and-run assaults should not be able to outmaneuver the Nigerian state or escape justice when decisive action is taken.

He also highlighted the importance of Plateau State and the broader Middle Belt, describing the region as critical to Nigeria’s unity. He warned that ongoing instability there poses a serious risk to national cohesion.

Calling for collective action, Adebayo urged residents to set aside ethnic and religious differences and work together to expose and isolate criminal elements and their collaborators. He emphasized that justice must be pursued lawfully to rebuild trust and restore order.

Reassuring displaced and affected communities, Adebayo insisted that no citizen should be forced to abandon their ancestral homes. He pledged continued engagement to promote peace, strengthen unity, and support sustainable development in the region.

His remarks come amid rising national concern over repeated violence in Plateau State, with increasing calls for stronger security measures and greater accountability from authorities.
