The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s push for food security, economic diversification, and export-led growth, with a focus on transforming the agricultural sector for higher productivity and global competitiveness.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, the Chamber’s President, Emeka Obegolu—represented by the Second Deputy President, Aliyu Idi Hong—highlighted plans for the maiden edition of the Agricultural Mechanization for Export-Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA EXPO 2026).
Obegolu described the event as a landmark initiative driven by key stakeholders, including the Agricultural Trade Group, JMT Plus Farms, and Agro-Allied partners, in collaboration with the Chamber. He noted that the expo is designed to serve as a leading continental platform for promoting agricultural mechanisation, improving export-quality production systems, and attracting sustainable investment across the agribusiness value chain.
He added that AGROMEQA EXPO 2026 will reinforce national priorities by encouraging private sector participation and strengthening Nigeria’s access to international markets. A major highlight of the event will be the official declaration by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
Beyond exhibitions, the expo will function as an investment marketplace, bringing together local farmers, agritech innovators, agribusinesses, and investors to explore opportunities in mechanisation, processing, logistics, and export operations.
The event will also feature live demonstrations of advanced farming technologies, alongside a dedicated agro-processing and packaging platform aimed at promoting local value addition. In addition, a Schools’ Agro Exhibition and Competition will be held to encourage innovation among young agricultural enthusiasts.
