Armed men have abducted Olaide John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning as the 43-year-old was reportedly on her way to drop the children off at school.
Confirming the development in a statement, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, said the victims were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen at about 7:30 a.m.
According to him, the assailants forcefully seized John-Paul and her twin sons during the attack.
Awogboro described the victim as the youngest of the five children of Olufunmilayo Adelabu. He noted that she previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring from service last year.
He added that following her retirement, she relocated to Ibadan with her children while making arrangements to join her husband, John Paul, who had earlier moved to the United States.
The aide disclosed that security and law enforcement agencies were immediately notified of the incident and had already commenced investigations.
“We are pleased to confirm that security operatives have swung into action and preliminary investigations have commenced in earnest,” Awogboro said.
“Efforts are currently ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible for this heinous crime.”
He said Adelabu and other family members were deeply distressed by the abduction but expressed confidence in the ability of security agencies to secure the safe release of the victims.
Awogboro also appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could jeopardise ongoing rescue efforts.
“The family respectfully appeals to members of the public to remain calm, avoid speculation, and refrain from circulating unverified information that may jeopardise ongoing security operations,” he stated.
He further urged anyone with useful information regarding the whereabouts of the victims to assist security agencies by reporting through appropriate channels, assuring that the family would continue to cooperate with authorities and provide updates as investigations progress.
