The Nigerian Army on Saturday staged a full ceremonial pull-out parade at its Supply and Transport Barracks in Benin City to honour Major General Erema Akerejola following his retirement after years of distinguished service.

The event drew family members, friends, and top military officers, who gathered under cloudy skies to witness the traditional end-of-service ceremony marking his departure from active duty. Troops marched in well-coordinated formations, while the sound of a bugle signalled the close of his military career.

Colleagues described the moment as emotional, as tributes poured in from both serving and retired personnel, celebrating Akerejola’s dedication and impact.

Throughout his career, the retired general held strategic positions in logistics and field operations. He was particularly praised for his role in counter-insurgency operations in Nigeria’s North-East and for implementing reforms that improved the Army’s transport and supply systems.
