2027: Why Ndigbo won’t support Obi – NDI-ABAT
Ndigbo for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT) has explained why the Southeast will not support Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the coming election.
The forum disclosed this in a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and the National Publicity Secretary Dr Peter Ozo.
The statement said: “It is a well – known fact that nature abhors a vacuum. The refusal of Mr Peter Obi to identify himself as an Igbo candidate in the forthcoming 2027 Presidential elections has created a void that needs to be filled. Mr. Peter Obi’s recent declaration that he is not running for the 2027 Presidency in the name of his Igbo tribe is a disappointing turn of events.
“His desperation to be President has led him to discard his Igbo identity, a move that has not gone unnoticed by the Igbo people.
“In the absence of a viable Igbo presidential candidate in 2027, and considering that it is the turn of Southern Nigeria to produce the President, the Igbo people have made a rational and strategic decision. They will officially adopt President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Igbo consensus candidate for the 2027 elections. This decision is a direct result of President Tinubu’s numerous favorable policies for the Igbo people and the significant federal road projects in the Southeast.”
